Success Criteria

Welcome to the Success Criteria Module for Tahoma School District teachers! In this module you will become an interactive member of a blog where you will interact with peers around Success Criteria in your classroom.

Learning Target: I can incorporate effective Success Criteria in my classroom with my students.

Read & Watch: As you review the placemat, Mini-lesson presentation and watch the video, consider your current implementation and use of Success Criteria. What refinements might you make?
Respond
Read through the quotes on slides 8-13. Choose one that resonates with you and/or stretches your thinking.  Post your response below.

This is a 2 part response. You can include both thoughts in one post.
  1. Share the quote you selected, why you chose that quote and how it challenges you to think differently about Success Criteria.
  2. After watching Austin’s Butterfly, what additional insights do we get from “Austin’s Butterfly” around the role learning targets, success criteria and feedback plays in powerful instruction?
Practice in classroom (Practice)
Create: For an upcoming set of lessons, create success criteria that aligns with the Learning Targets and suggested guidelines.
Practice: Display LT and SC visually, referring to them often during your lesson(s). Make it a point to be clear to your students about where they are heading (LT) and how they will get there (SC).
After you’ve practiced a bit, have a coach come in to observe and give feedback.

Email your building coach with a date and time to come in to see your Learning Targets and Success Criteria in action! (email for date with coach) (Feedback)

Respond: Report back! How did it go? Did you notice a change in students success and attainment of the target? How did making your LT and SC visual and clear assist you and your students?
